FAQs
Erm?... What about....
You may well have some questions about having a wedding pianist for your day to see whether I may be right for your booking. I have tried to answer the questions I most frequently get asked below.
If I haven't covered your question below, please do feel free to get in touch via the contact page and I can hopefully answer it there!
-
My chosen venue doesn't have a piano, can we still book you?"Absolutely! I have a full sized digital piano for any venue without a piano. This does require power, but as long as I am 30m away from a plug socket, I am able to play anywhere.
-
Our wedding venue isn't in London, Herts, Beds or Bucks. Do you cover our area?"I am based in Bedfordshire, and find that the vast majority of my bookings cover the home counties and London - however if your venue is slightly further afield, please still free to get in touch.
-
My venue requires a copy of your public liabiltiy insurance and/or PAT certificate. Can you provide these?I have public liability cover up to £10m should your venue require this and all of my equipment is PAT tested. If you let me know the email address for the wedding co-ordinator at your chosen venue, I will send my certificates for both of these directly to them, saving you one thing to worry about for your day!
-
Do you offer any other options besides solo piano or with a vocalist?Yes - I can also be booked with a male guitarist/vocalist, or a saxophonist/vocalist too. If either of these are of interest, please do let me know and I shall send videos over of both the other musicians I offer duo bookings for.
-
Do you require a deposit? To confirm your booking, a deposit of £100 is asked for. Upon receipt you will receive written confirmation of my services for your day. The remaining balance is asked for a minimum of one week prior to your wedding.
-
Can we meet with you prior to booking? You are able to meet with me prior to the booking should this be of interest. Most couples opt for a Skype call for ease - it gives you a chance to put a face to the name and also I can discuss your day with you in more detail, find out a little more about the music you love and make sure I am fully prepped for your day!
-
What is your COVID-19 Policy?Sadly, a lot of couples have had to postpone their weddings this year due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Should your date be affected by the virus, your deposit is fully refundable. Most couples have managed to secure dates later in the year or next year. If I happen to already be booked on your revised date, again, you would receive your deposit payment back in full.
-
How long does set-up take if our venue doesn't have a piano? Can you move locations during our day?Set-up is very quick indeed. It takes 15 minutes to both set up and also to move from one location to another within your venue should you wish to have piano during different parts of your day.
-
Will you learn our favourite songs? In short - yes! I will do my best. Due to the volume of bookings, I have to cap additional requests to a maximum of three songs separate to your ceremony choices should you wish to have me playing during the wedding breakfast or celebratory drinks. If you choose to book me for your day, I normally ask for a list of 20 or so artists/tunes you both like and create a tailor made set list for your day from there.
-
Can we come and see you play live anywhere before booking? The vast majority of my work is private bookings so coming to see me live before booking can be tricky - however, I do occasionally take public bookings so always worth asking. If you are on Instagram, I have a vast amount of additional footage there of me playing in all sorts of styles so hopefully you can get a good feel of the mixture of music available to you should you book me by taking a look at these! My Instagram feed can be found on my Home Page.
-
What happens if you are ill on the day?I run a music agency - www.talldogmusic.com and have a bank of pianists I am able to offer in the unlikely event that I am unable to play on your day due to illness.
-
Our venue has a sound limiter. Is this a problem? Not at all, my digital piano has amplification that can be set at any volume ensuring that I stick comfortably within the sound limits of your chosen venue.
-
Are we able to adapt the packages offered on the site?Yes - the packages are just typical timings that are common should you opt for my services for your ceremony, or if you were hoping to have a pianist as background music throughout the day. If you need me for longer, or less time, just let me know and we can adapt the package to suit your day!
